Does anybody know how to make rfind (PF6) active ?
I am getting this error when I try to repeat find in SDFS logs. STC02116 DSID 124 LIN "RFIND " is not active. I tried looking in manual etc but could not get any clue to resolve this. Thanks in advance. |

I don't think SDSF supports RFIND.
The following web site (in its SDSF section) discusses the limitations of SDSF and makes some recommendations; http://www.davar.net/MF/REFER/FAQ.HTM |

SDSF uses IFIND rather than RFIND.

I found this in z/OS 1.10 SDSF, but a search for IFIND in z/OS 1.10 ISPF did not produce any hits. I've always used PF5 (my ISPF RFIND key) in SDSF with no trouble

SDSF runs under a unique Application ID so the PFkey definitions are separate from ISPF. Enter KEYS when in SDSF to verify the value for PF5.

I did that - PF5 shows IFIND. I then went to the v1R10.0 SDSF bookshelf and tried searching for IFIND, and came up with the same appendix I posted ealier. So we have a unique, but ill-defined SDSF only function called IFIND which usually behaves much like the PDF RFIND function. Can someone, in short simple words, tell me if there is any practical difference between IFIND and RFIND?

I've always fancied it to be Iterative Find. Not much help, I know.

Hi I found the following statement in the appendix of the sdsf manual ... maybe it helps
If you use the Repeat-Find PF keys under ISPF and they don't invoke the Repeat Find function, the problem may be that the SDSF table library was not concatenated correctly with the ISPF table libraries. You may also see the ISPF message RFIND NOT ACTIVE to indicate this. The SDSF Repeat-Find key should be defined as IFIND. |
